The Liechtenstein Law on Persons and Companies, (PGR) dates from 1926 and was amended since than several times. The actual last big amendment in 2009 has brought a revision of the foundation law.

The PGR makes provisions among others for the classic company forms of the stock corporation and limited liability company as well as of the foundation and the establishment.

Moreover, the Principality of Liechtenstein is the only continental European country to have included the common law trust in its legal system. The legal basis of the trust is codified in the PGR as well.

Compared to other states the PGR distinguish by a small number of statutory provisions and therefore leaves considerable scope for individual solutions.
